| OXYPHAN® is a hydrophobic, microporous polyolefine membrane produced using the unique Accurel® process, a thermally induced phase separation process. The polymer is melt mixed with a defined mixture of two natural seed oils (soy and castor). The capillary membrane is formed from this solution by spinning and cooling the resulting fibre. During cooling, phase separation is initiated leading to the formation of a highly porous skeleton structure consisting of solid polymer, the pores still being filled with oil. After removal of all oil residues using large amounts of hot alcohol and then drying, the desired membrane architecture is achieved. | |||
